Expenditures are receipted and mailed to the treasurer in monthly reports by the Coordinator (Allen Johnson). The Coordinator also mails in hours worked (now volunteer), along with a monthly report (emailed to other Steering Committee members. Conference calls are held when needed.

The Coordinator (Allen Johnson) handles most correspondence, project implementation, and supportiveness and coordination with other persons and groups.

Anyone who provides financial support or purposeful prayer and encouragement support is considered a member of CFTM. CFTM is Christian. That is, we seek to follow Jesus. However, we do not impose any test of belief upon those who wish to join with us in any capacity of our mission and projects.

OUR STEERING COMMITTEE

Janet Keating has served on the CFTM Steering Committee since our founding in 2005. Janet is well-respected for her leadership in developing Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition (OVEC). During those 24 years, the last 9 as Executive Director, she was nationally recognized for the organization’s effectiveness and strong collaboration with other groups.

Janet gives CFTM her wise counsel, cheerful encouragement, and gratitude. She is now retired from OVEC, enjoying her life-long birdwatching hobby, and enjoying life on a small farm in Mason County, WV. She has a married daughter and grandchildren that give her great joy.

Pat Hudson was a co-founder and Executive Director of the Lindquist Environmental Appalachian Fellowship (LEAF) that  offered Tennessee churches free Creation Care materials including DVD’s (like CFTM’s Mountain Mourning) and books that highlight the ongoing environmental destruction caused by this practice, but also present positive ways Christians  can respond to the crisis. LEAF introduced the Tennessee Scenic Vistas Protection Act into the Tennessee Legislature, calling for a ban on mountaintop mining in the state.

Pat Hudson contributes her experienced knowledge, encouragement, and creative ideas. She lives in Knoxville, Tennessee with her husband.

Bob Marshall is co-founder, original Steering Committee member, and Treasurer of Christians For The Mountains. He brings to us kindness, thoughtfulness, and cheerful helpfulness.

Bob has been involved in Christian creation stewardship advocacy for many decades. He continues his long-term service as Treasurer of the WV Highlands Conservancy.
Bob is a respected veterinarian in the Charleston, WV area. His wife Beth and he enjoy endurance horse riding. They live on a farm in Jackson County, WV.

OUR COORDINATOR

Allen Johnson co-founded CFTM in May 2005. During the next several years, Johnson served on the Steering Committee as a volunteer Coordinator. Johnson oversaw the development of the Mountain Mourning DVD, put together the early correspondence and outreach, and reached out regionally and nationally to develop partnerships with religious and secular environmental organizations.

Johnson also develops the website and is editor of our Mountain Vision newspaper. In 2012 the Steering Committee contracted with Johnson as a paid Coordinator in a full-time capacity, but in recent years Johnson volunteers his time as Coordinator.
